I'd like to think I'm pretty low-maintenance with my makeup. Although I love the stuff, I tend to go with a more minimal look on an everyday basis and don't really bring along any touch-up supplies with me for the day. I do, however, always have to have a lip product on hand. Maybe I'm addicted to them, but the feeling of my lips without a slick of balm or lipstick on them grosses me out. Lately I've been throwing some form of tinted lip balm into my work bag to be able to top up throughout the day, and I've found the ones that lend themselves perfectly to the occasion.
The one that's been living in my bag since the day I got it last summer is the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Petal. These tinted balms have the loveliest formula, so creamy and moisturizing while still packing a punch of pigment. The Petal shade is a gorgeous "my lips but better" color, a true neutral pink.
In case my lips are getting extra dry, I always like to have a more heavy duty balm on hand. I've got about three tubes of the Glossier Balm Dotcom floating around different bags to always make sure I've got one available. It's my most favorite lip balm, as it's thick enough to stay put for awhile without being sticky or goopy. And it actually moisturizes the lips, rather than sitting on top like some other balms.
For when I'm wanting a little more color, I've always got the Nudestix Lip & Cheek Pencil in Mystic in my bag. I love the little tin this came with too - I like to squeeze as many lip products as I can into it to keep them all together. The pencil is wonderfully creamy and glides onto the lips, but it eventually sets down to a more matte/satin finish that stays put for hours.
I'm sure those three options are enough, but what if I want something more glossy? That's where the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in Rosewood comes into play. These glosses are my favorite - they're moisturizing, not sticky, and they smell delicious.
The newest addition to come live in my workbag is the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Balm Perfector in, again, Rosewood. It's just such a pretty natural shade. This is incredibly similar to the original lip perfector, but with (understandably) less of a glossy finish.
