Quite a bold statement there, right? I'm sure I'll find a way to improve upon this edit in time, but for now, this combination has been giving me the most healthy, dewy look. I know this may not be the most seasonally-appropriate post to do, but I'm all about amping up the glow in my skin no matter what time of year it is.
The most important thing for me is to start with properly cleansed and moisturized skin. My skin gets dried out quite easily, so I need to work to keep my base from looking cakey on top. My favorite moisturizer/primer to use under makeup is the Glossier Priming Moisturizer - it really plumps up the skin and keeps it hydrated throughout the day, but it's really lightweight so makeup doesn't slide right off. It also imparts the most natural glow to the skin without any kind of shimmer. I don't reach for many other moisturizers for under my makeup, but I'll make sure I grab this one if I want to look really dewy.
The next step is to find a base that also gives the skin a glow without turning it into a greasepit. For me, I love the Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint or the bareMinerals Complexion Rescue. The Glossier tint is probably my most favorite base ever, as it's so lightweight and yet does a great job at evening out skin tone and texture. And if I'm in need of a bit more coverage, I'll reach for the bareMinerals instead. They both look so glowy and beautiful on the skin, but they set so they're not transferring onto your phone or hands all day.
To really amp up that glow, I like layering a powder highlight over a cream one. My favorite base creams are the Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight and the Beauty Crop Lighting Crew Highlighting Cream. They're both similar pink-toned champagne shades, and I reach for them interchangeably - I maybe pick the Clinique one over the Beauty Crop offering if I'm in a rush, because the stick form is just so easy to apply. Then I'll pop a little bit of a powder highlight on top. I've been swooning over the Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminator in Starlight lately - it really is one of the most beautiful highlighters I've used. It's easy to get a natural glow or really intensify it, and it looks like believable dewy skin. The cheaper option I've also been going for lately is the Colourpop Super Shock Cheek in Smoke N Whistles. Again, it's a nice, cool-toned highlight that's good for more intense looks.
To finish off the look, I like to use a facial spray to really meld the makeup with my skin. My go-to for awhile was the MAC Fix+ because it feels nourishing on the skin, sets my makeup, and gives the skin a bit more of a glow. Lately I've been trying out the Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist (thank the makeup gods for Tatcha carrying travel sizes of their most popular products on their website so I didn't have to shell out almost $50 for the full size). It's like a liquid moisturizer rather than a souped-up water, so it gives you a glow. Like, even more glow than I was ever expecting. And it lasts, too. This would be excellent for dry skin because it keeps the skin hydrated for quite awhile.
Are you still riding the glowy skin train like me? What are your top picks for dewy skin?
