As a self-confessed beauty product hoarder, I’ve taken to searching various online beauty sections looking for exciting and new (to me) brands that I just can’t get in my local Sephora or Macy’s. One of my new favorite sites to pore over is Neiman Marcus (seriously, look at the brands they've got) - it’s always seemed like such a swish place to me because there’s one I like to look around in when I visit my sister in Boston, and it’s also where my boyfriend got me my Rebecca Minkoff bag for Christmas a couple years ago. Obviously, their stocked beauty brands are to die for.
If you read my Brands I’d Like to Try More From post, you’ll know that the only makeup brand I mentioned was Bobbi Brown. When I first checked the beauty brands available at Neiman Marcus, this was the first one that jumped out at me, naturally. Having only tried the eyeshadow sticks before, I jumped at the chance to try some lip products in the form of the Limited Edition Lip Color Trio*. It comes with the shades Salmon, Pale Mauve, and Soft Rose. The first thing I noticed was the unique shape of the bullet - it seems to come to more of a point than other lipsticks, and the usual flat, angled edge has a bit of a curve. This just hugs the lips perfectly and makes application a breeze. They glide on so creamily but set down to more of a satin finish - my favorite kinds of lipsticks. As you can see from the swatches, Salmon is a beautiful peachy nude, Pale Mauve a pink nude that looks similar to but lighter than MAC Syrup, and Soft Rose (my favorite) is a lovely rosy shade that’s not totally neutral, but not too bold either. Soft Rose seems just warm enough that it would look perfect paired with fall outfits, but rosy enough to work for the warmer months as well. After falling in love with these Lip Color lipsticks, I’d love to get my hands on a few more shades, especially Sandwash Pink - I hear it’s the one Kate Middleton used on her wedding day.
Everything from Bobbi Brown is pretty swoon-worthy, but what really gets me is the eyeshadow palettes - the Greystone Eye Palette, the Smokey Nudes Palette, and the Telluride Collection Eye Palette, for example, all have me weak in the knees. I just love me some neutral eyeshadows.
Another brand that instantly stands out is Aerin. Until now, I thought it was impossible to get Aerin makeup in the US, so my heart skipped a beat when I saw the collection there. The gorgeous packaging makes me want everything, but at the top of my list is the Lip & Cheek Color - I’ve seen a lot of YouTubers from the UK use this, and I always think it looks stunning. As you know, I’m all about neutral everything so the brown-y pink shade looks right up my alley. I've also got my eye on the Weekday Lip Gloss - it looks like the perfect everyday lip product. And yes - it's another neutral. Sensing a theme?
Speaking of pretty packaging, you can't talk about gorgeous packaging without mentioning Diptyque. I often feel like an inadequate beauty blogger because of the lack of Diptyque items gracing my Instagram photos, but it's become a very dangerous (for my bank account) discovery that the brand is available at Neiman Marcus. Everyone talks about their candles, but as I've got a cupboard full of candles waiting to be burned I think I'll have more of a hard time resisting a splurge on one of the perfumes. I've heard people describe the scent of Philosykos and it sounds quite dreamy, like the perfect mix of something fresh and fruity and something warm. Another scent description that catches my eye is that of Eau Duelle - I feel like it would be the perfect fall scent. Along with the fragrances, a bottle of the Eau Rose Body Lotion would look stunning sitting on your bathroom counter. Definitely a luxe and treat-yourself product, this would be one to break out on the most pampering of pamper nights.
Without rambling on and on about all the luxe and dreamy brands available at Neiman Marcus, I'll leave you with perhaps one of the most coveted of all: Mr. Tom Ford. I swear you can't get through a favorites or wishlist post lately without a mention of the brand, and for good reason - the products are absolutely gorgeous. The Skin Illuminating Powder Duo is one of the most beautiful products I've ever laid my eyes on, and it's actually got me considering the splurge - despite my large array of highlighting products, this one seems dreamiest of them all. For eyes I've always wanted to try my hand at the Eye Defining Pen, despite my ineptitude at applying liquid liner. I think having such a fancy version of liquid liner would make me actually want to practice applying it. Lastly on this train of swoon-worthy products are the Matte Lip Color lipsticks. You can't really talk about Tom Ford as a brand and not mention the lipsticks, can you? I've got my eye on the shade Pussycat, which looks like a lovely plummy pink that would be perfect as the weather cools down.
So I've found a new love for browsing around the beauty section of Neiman Marcus and trying not to faint from all the lust-worthy products. This is definitely a dangerous discovery for my wallet. Have you seen the beauty section of Neiman Marcus before? If you haven't, I highly recommend checking it out!
