This summer I got so into face mists that I don’t think I’ll ever be without them in my routine again. I use them to wake myself up in the morning and then throughout the day when I’m feeling like I need a little pick-me-up. You can get ones to moisturize, to revitalize, to set your makeup, anything really. I thought I’d run through the five I’ve got to give you a better idea at how versatile they are, and because these roundup-type posts are some of my favorites to write.
The Soothing One | I’m starting with the Glossier Soothing Face Mist because it’s definitely my favorite. I’m down to my last few spritzes with a backup waiting in the wings. This one’s got a combination of rosewater, glycerin, and aloe in it, so it’s calming, soothing, and hydrating. This was my go-to throughout the summer (you can read more about it in my latest Current Skincare Loves post) because it really brought down the redness in my skin when I was feeling overheated. I’ve been keeping it in my work bag lately so I can use it throughout the day, and it really helps me re-focus and not fall asleep at my desk.
The Glow-Giver | So most of my face mists will give the skin a glow, but the Pixi Glow Mist gives the skin the brightest, lit-from-within glow of the bunch. This one contains argan oil and other natural oils, as well as fruit extracts - you have to shake this one up before you use it, as it separates so you can see the oils on top. Despite containing oils this never makes the skin greasy or sticky, and it’s quite moisturizing, too.
The Protector | The only face mist I have that doesn’t aim to give the skin more of a glow is the Supergoop Defense Refresh Setting Mist with SPF 50. This is one I picked up on a whim when I was shopping a few days before my vacation to the beach. This was an absolute must-have for my whole trip - not once did I get sunburned on my face. It also has rosemary in it, causing it to have a very soothing and cooling scent and feel. It was perfect on hot, humid beach days, as it cooled me right down. This aims to mattify the skin, which it really did, without making my skin feel dry or tight.
The Makeup Setter/Refresher | I only recently finally got my hands on the MAC Prep + Prime Fix+. I had been watching lots of “dewy skin” tutorials on YouTube, and almost all of them used the Fix+ as their first and final steps, so I knew I needed it. This has quite a lovely, subtle scent, like the MAC Strobe Cream, and feels nice and refreshing on the skin. This one gives the skin a soft radiance, so it’s no wonder it’s the one so many people turn to. It really does help my makeup last longer, and if I notice my makeup starting to settle or look less-than-great, a quick few spritzes of this will have everything refreshed and glowing right away.
Dewy Skin in a Bottle | The most unique face mist I own is the Mizon King to the Kong No. 1 Moist Magic Cream Mist.I talked about this in my Urban Outfitters Beauty Haul last week. This one is actually a very thin moisturizer that’s able to be delivered via spray. The result is an incredibly soothed and hydrated complexion and dewy skin like no other. On rushed mornings I like to use this as both my mist and serum step as it’s so hydrating that it really helps to plump the skin, maybe even better than my usual serum does. If you’ve been interested in trying the Tatcha Dewy Skin Mist, maybe give this one a try first since it’s about $20 cheaper. I’m not sure I’ll be able to resist the Tatcha one much longer, but the description and reviews do sound quite similar to this one by Mizon.
What are your favorite face mists? Are there any I’m just totally missing out on?
