Do you ever look through your collection and pick up on themes? Recently I noticed I have an awful lot of products with rose in the name or containing some form of roses. A surefire way of making me buy a product? Put rose in it.
Because of its ability to soothe and calm the skin, rose/rosewater shows up over and over again in my skincare. One of the newest additions is the Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser, which showed up in my January Favorites. They replaced a quarter of the water content with rosewater, making it an extra soothing treat at the end of the day. My skin has been so incredibly hydrated since I started using this cleanser - it's legitimately the only one I've tried that doesn't leave me with an ounce of tightness in my skin after washing it off.
The "rose" marketing really pulled me in on the Origins Original Skin Retexturizing Mask with Rose Clay - it doesn't even have real rose in there, but the pretty pink packaging and the mention of rose got me. Rose clay has got to be more gentle and good for the skin than regular clay, right? This is by far one of my favorite clay masks because, again, it doesn't dry my face out like other ones. If you've got dry skin but still want the benefits of a clay mask, try this one.
The other mask I've got to mention, however, is jam-packed with roses. The Fresh Rose Face Mask is just a thing of beauty, especially in that limited edition packaging that came out last summer. It contains 50% pure rosewater along with an average of two and a half roses in every jar. It just instantly calms down any angry or stressed skin and gives it a beautifully hydrated, supple feel. Sensing a theme here?
Another popular place to stick roses is in a face mist. I use the Glossier Soothing Face Mist and the Herbivore Botanicals Rose Hibiscus Coconut Water Hydrating Face Mist interchangeably - they both feel quite similar on the skin and feel really nice to perk up the complexion in the morning or to wind down after a long day.
The newest addition to my rose obsession is the Pixi Rose Oil Blend. I mentioned this in my Beauty Haul - the second I had some extra money to spend, I dropped it on this. It's got rosehip, sweet almond, jojoba, pomegranate seed, and rose geranium oils in it, and it feels absolutely divine. My skin is given and instant glow and is plumped up and rejuvenated.
I've got lots of lipsticks and other lip products that are made to look like the color of a rose, but two standouts come from Fresh and Korres. I've spoken about my love for the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments many times before, and their Rose shade doesn't disappoint. It's more sheer than my beloved Petal, but it gives a soft flush to the lips that's super flattering. I don't know why I don't talk about the Korres Lip Butters more often, because they're one of my favorite lip products. The shade Wild Rose is a really lovely sheer deep red that, again, adds a nice flush to your pout all the while nourishing and hydrating your lips. Bonus points in that it smells like roses, too.
