Despite having skin on the drier side of things, I seem to have a pair of the world's oiliest eyelids. All eyeshadows will crease, and all eyeliners and mascaras will end up in flattering black smudges under my eyes by lunchtime. I'm constantly on the lookout for mascaras that won't move, and I think I've finally found not one, but two!
I came home for the weekend a few weeks ago, but I realized that I had forgotten mascara when I was packing up some makeup. With mascara being one of the most important things for me, makeup-wise, I had to run out to the drugstore to grab a cheap one that would get me through the weekend. I ended up going for the Covergirl Clump Crusher Water Resistant Mascara because there was probably a sale on Covergirl products. I've always heard such great things about this mascara, but had never gotten around to trying it. I must say, all the hype was real. This is probably one of my favorite mascaras ever, including high end ones. I usually don't have a preference between the plastic and bristle brushes, but I find the plastic wand lends itself well to making sure the lashes don't get clumpy. The curved shape of the wand gets to every lash, too, and helps curl them upwards. It fans out and defines the lashes in a really lovely way. One coat is perfect for a more minimal look, but you can build it up for more drama without it clumping up the lashes, as the name suggests. This is the only drugstore mascara I've found that doesn't run on me. I've tried so many waterproof mascaras, but they all still end up smudging under my eyes. I don't know what's different about this one, but it's working.
Even though I was more than happy with the Covergirl mascara, I suddenly felt the need to try the Too Cool For School Dinoplatz Escalator Mascara (I know, I have a problem). I had heard that this is a tubing mascara, so not only would it not smudge throughout the day, but it could also be removed with only warm water. That sounded too good to be true. This is one of those cool mascaras that has a little twisty thing on the cap so you can customize the shape of the brush. Left alone, the brush is longer with the plastic bristles farther apart, making for a more lengthening formula. But twisting the cap condenses the brush and makes it give the lashes more volume. I opt for something in-between, twisting it slightly but not all the way. This does clump my lashes up a little from time to time (I think those are usually "bad lash days" for me, though), but it's nothing a little brush through with a clean spoolie won't help. It gives my lashes insane length and pretty good volume, and it holds the curl all day long. This is the one I reach for if I wake up feeling/looking extra tired because I know it will make my eyes look wide and bright all day. And, it doesn't smudge or flake one bit, just like I had heard. It's also super easy to remove with just water. I'm totally amazed.
Do you have issues with mascara smudging like me? What's your favorite mascara?
