I recently did a clearout of my makeup collection and got some fancy new drawers to reorganize everything. In the process, I happened to dig up a few things I used to rant and rave about but had stopped using for awhile. It really inspired me to start using them again and also figure out a system to not forget about my favorites anymore.
I never really stopped using the Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint, but lately my love for it has grown even stronger because I've been mixing it with just about everything. My favorite thing to mix it with is the Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer - something I had completely forgotten about in my collection. I take a tiny pinprick amount of the SSE and mix with my usual amount of Skin Tint - about 8-10 drops. It gives the Skin Tint more coverage without compromising the glowiness or the skinlike finish. It's a new favorite base for sure.
When I haven't been using the Skin Tint + SSE combination, I've been all over the L'Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion. I love cushion foundations, especially on days when I'm in a rush or need to slap some makeup on at my desk, and this offering from L'Oreal is just as good as some more expensive ones I've tried. It's a light but buildable coverage, and it gives the skin such a beautiful glow. It doesn't go cakey or totally disappear on me throughout the day, either.
I went through a period of wearing no eyeshadow at all, but lately I've been getting back into it. I've been cracking out my MAC Cool Neutrals Palette (review) again, and I had forgotten how much I loved it. MAC eyeshadows used to get so much hype, and they're still some of my favorites. As much as I love my warm-toned eyeshadows, I think cool tones just suit me a little better. The collections of shades in this palette are stunning and are pretty much what I would have chosen had I made this palette myself. I love the two far right shades in both the first and second rows the most.
With the launch of Glossier Cloud Paint, I haven't been reaching for powder blushes much. But I uncovered the Burberry Light Glow Natural Blush in Earthy when I was organizing, and it's such a stunning shade that I haven't been able to resist using it almost every day again. It's such a good "no-blush" blush shade, as it gives more of a hint of definition rather than a rosey flush. Like blush, I haven't been giving my powder highlights much love either, until I was reminded of how beautiful the CoverFX Perfect Light Highlighting Powder in Moonlight is. It gives the skin such a subtle, lit-from-within sheen that it looks like a cream highlighter anyway. I love layering this over my Glossier Haloscope as well.
I've been pretty good about rotating my lip products and not forgetting about most of them, but getting the Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick in Adrienne recently has reminded me how much I love the classic Rouge Coco Shine in Boy. It's such a pretty pink-y nude shade - it looks like nothing special in the tube, but it's just so beautiful once applied. This is a wedding lipstick contender for sure.
