When I heard that MAC was doing a collection of lipsticks created by influencers around the world, I was all ears. And then I found out that each lipstick was only available in the influencer's home country, meaning the three I was most excited about, Fleur de Force, Samantha Ravndahl, and Alessandra Steinherr, were inaccessible to me. I ended up messaging a couple people and trading a few Glossier goodies with them to get my hands on all three. They're all lovely everyday shades, but I got to picking through my collection to see if I could find some similar shades to talk about, since these lipsticks are now gone for good.
MAC x Alessandra | MJ Role Play, Buxom White Russian, BareMinerals Strip | The Alessandra lipstick is my favorite of the three. It's a Lustre finish, which is my favorite by MAC, so it gives a more sheer wash of a rosy nude pink. It's incredibly flattering and just the kind of thing I love. I found a few similar shades (I swear they look more similar in person!) in the Marc Jacobs New Nudes Sheer Gel Lipstick in Role Play, Buxom Bold Gel Lipstick in White Russian, and BareMinerals Gen Nude Radiant Lipstick in Strip. Role Play is a tiny bit darker and more pigmented, White Russian is slightly lighter but has the same rosy tone, and Strip is slightly warmer but has a similar formula.
MAC x Samantha Ravndahl | MAC Patisserie, NARS Dolce Vita, Clinique Nude Pop | I've been getting into paler nude lipsticks lately - I love the look when they're dabbed into the lips. The MAC x Sam Ravndahl lipstick is a beautiful nude pink in a Creamsheen formula - it goes with pretty much any look. It's fitting, because it's Sam's videos that got me into this kind of shade. Similar shades in my collection are the MAC Lipstick in Patisserie, NARS Lipstick in Dolce Vita, and Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer in Nude Pop. Patisserie is more rosy (I built up the swatch a little too much here) and is a Lustre formula, NARS Dolce Vita is pretty spot on in color but is more sheer in pigmentation, and Clinique Nude Pop is an almost perfect match in both color and formula.
MAC x Fleur de Force | Chanel Adrienne, Estee Edit Sunday Vibe, NARS Intriguing | Fleur de Force was one of the first beauty YouTubers I ever watched (which is what got me really into beauty), so hers was probably the lipstick I was most excited about in the collection. It's a really pretty pinky brown shade in a Creamsheen finish that's a bit warmer than what I usually go for. It's super lovely and warms up my complexion. I had a harder time finding close enough shades, but in the end I found that the Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick in Adrienne, The Estee Edit Mattified Lipstick in Sunday Vibe, and NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Intriguing. Chanel Adrienne is almost the same shade and a similar formula but is a tad lighter, Estee Edit is a very close match but is ever-so-slightly more cool/gray-toned, and NARS Intriguing has the same depth and warmth, but is more rosy and more matte.
Did you get your hands on any of the lipsticks in this MAC collection?
