I feel like every time I want to revive my blog, I start out with a “Favorites” or “Loving Lately” -type post that I want to make consistent, and then I don’t follow through. So I’m back again with “Five Things I’m Loving Lately,” and I’m hoping I’ll actually come back to write more of these posts. I’ve been really thinking about how to get back into writing - the new year has made me want to set more goals to do things and find more hobbies for myself. I think, and this is my thought process every time I write these kinds of posts, that just talking about some casual favorites is an easy way to jump back in!
Kindle Paperwhite | Speaking of finding hobbies for myself, at the end of the year I really got back into reading. My husband got me a Kindle Paperwhite for Christmas and gave it to me early, and I raced through a bunch of books right after. I used to be a “real book” snob, but really I love that I can have multiple books downloaded and take them with me anywhere without adding bulk or weight to whatever bag I’m carrying. I love that I can use this to read in the dark, and that it’s comfortable to hold while laying in bed. I’ve been trying to get into the habit of reading before I go to sleep instead of scrolling through Instagram and Tiktok, and I’ve actually noticed better sleep because of it. I just finished The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, and I think it’s now one of my top favorite books. I just started The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab because it was free with KindleUnlimited, and I’m really liking that so far, too. I set myself the goal of reading 30 books this year, and I think it’ll definitely be doable! (Let’s be friends on Goodreads!)
Tower 28 MakeWaves Mascara | If I was doing the absolute most minimal makeup to get out the door but still feel presentable, I’d do brows, and I’d do mascara. Lately I’ve been obsessed with Tower 28’s new mascara. It lengthens and defines my lashes, but it also adds a decent amount of volume that I find perfect for everyday. I usually struggle to find mascaras that hold a curl on my long-but-straight lashes and that also don’t smudge throughout the day (my skin is on the dry side, but my eyelids are slightly hooded and sometimes oily!). This ticks both of those boxes as well. I usually like experimenting with mascara and moving on to something new when one tube runs out, but I’ve been loving this so much that I just ordered another tube. I did a first impressions/review Reel on Instagram here.
ILIA Balmy Tint Tinted Lip Balm in Runaway | I really fell in love with these tinted lip balms last year - I think they’re so underrated! They’re much more pigmented than “tinted lip balm” suggests, and while they feel nourishing, they’re not as shiny or slippy as a lip balm. I’d say they’re like a nourishing/comfortable lipstick rather than a tinted lip balm. But they’re so great for just throwing on with an everyday makeup look! I have and wear several shades, but my most-worn has been Runaway. It’s just the perfect everyday pink. It’s neutral enough to go with everything, and it’s just enough of a pop of color to brighten up my face but still look pretty natural.
Stanley 40oz Adventure Quencher | I definitely bought into the hype of these that has grown in the last couple years. I got mine when I was pregnant and it really came in handy - one of my first symptoms was being constantly thirsty, so it helped to have such a giant cup of water always around. I find I drink so much more water when I’m using this - I love that it has a straw, and I love that it fits in normal cupholders, too. It’s also a plus that it can go in the dishwasher! When I bought mine, they only had a small set of colors available, but now I’m always eyeing one of the newer, pretty shades they have. How many Stanley Cups is too many Stanley Cups?
Baby: Pajama Sets | My last thing on this list isn’t something for me, but something for Cam! He’s just about outgrowing his clothes in 6-9 months size, and I’ve noticed that a lot of the cute footie pajamas don’t go past this size. As he gets more mobile, I’ve realized it’s so much easier to put him in 2-piece pajama sets instead of the one-piece footies - it’s quicker and easier to remove and put on pants for diaper changes rather than trying to wrangle his feet in and out of the footies and keeping him on his back long enough to zip them back up! The little matching pajama sets I’ve been finding for him are just so cute, and I can’t get enough of them. He’s starting to look like a toddler now instead of a little baby, and I can’t handle it! He has a few sets from Old Navy, and also some from Carter’s that are great.
What are you loving lately? And is there anything you’d like to see more of on the blog as I try to get back into the swing of writing more posts here?
