I’m a little shocked I’m actually sticking to doing this post again this week - I’m really hoping I can keep it up! I spent most of the week feeling frustrated and burned out, and then I realized it was probably just PMS messing with me. I’m feeling a lot better now that it’s Friday, and I’m hoping for a relaxing weekend.
Currently Loving
Danessa Myricks Beauty Balm Contour - I fell in love with all things Danessa Myricks over the summer, but I never got around to writing about most of them on here. My latest favorite is the Balm Contour, a creamy, blendable product that comes in eight shades. It’s easy to apply, and my shade (Light 1) looks so natural on me. It adds a nice bit of depth and shape to my face without looking too made-up, though I’m sure you could also build it up if you were aiming for a stronger look.
Stila Convertible Color in Lilium - This was one of my favorites back in the day. I had forgotten about Stila, but I was reminded of this gem when reading an article about the makeup artist on Bridgerton - she said she used it a lot on Phoebe Dynevor (Daphne Bridgerton), and I was sold! These have a thicker, more emollient texture, and they leave a beautiful dewy finish on the skin. I’m so happy to have this back in my routine!
Maybelline Lifter Gloss in Moon - These were quite hyped up a little while ago, and I’m only just jumping on the bandwagon now. They’re said to be dupes for the Fenty Gloss Bombs, which seems accurate to me. They have the same cushion-y, nourishing formula. However, I seem to have developed an allergy to something in the Fenty glosses (they make my lips numb!), but I have no problem with these Maybelline ones. I have the shade Moon, which looks very similar to the original shade of the Fenty Gloss Bomb. It’s so nourishing I’ve been dabbing a bit on instead of a lip balm lately!
Madewell Perfect Vintage Jeans - I posted about wanting a pair of these last week, and I ended up pulling the trigger. I’m obsessed. They’re so comfortable and stretchy, but they have the perfect straight leg. They’re still a bit form-fitting, but it’s a nice step between skinny jeans and Mom jeans. Now my only problem is that I want to replace all my old jeans with these.
On My Radar
How To Help People in Texas Right Now - Like everyone else, I’ve been horrified at what’s happening in Texas right now. Last weekend’s unprecedented winter storms and cold temperatures caused a strain on their power grid, resulting in widespread power outages. With no way to heat their homes or, in many places where the roads aren’t clear, even get to safety, a lot of people need help. I found this article helpful in listing different organizations to donate to (with some Venmo options to make it easy) if you’re looking to help.
Simone Ashley Cast in Bridgerton Season 2 - Exciting news for Bridgerton fans - they’ve cast a major Season 2 role! Simone Ashley, who I’m familiar with for her role in Sex Education, will play Kate Sharma, a smart, fiery woman who butts heads with eldest Bridgerton sibling Anthony. Anthony’s book The Viscount Who Loved Me, has been my favorite of the Bridgerton books so far, so I’m really looking forward to Season 2.
Madewell Insider Sale - I’ve been trying to stop buying clothes (because I have enough and I’m not going anywhere), but I’m not sure I can resist a Madewell sale! There’s 20% off for Madewell Insiders now - you just have to sign up for an account to get the discount. I’ll probably be browsing the site all day!
Danessa Myricks Beauty is Coming to Sephora! - As I mentioned above, I’ve been loving the Danessa Myricks products in my collection. She announced this week that her line will be coming to Sephora! It will be online 2/26 and in stores 4/9. I’m so pleased for the brand’s success and can’t wait to throw some new products into my cart when I’m stocking up on other favorites there. Let me know if a review + swatch post of the Danessa Myricks products I have would be of interest!
Weekend Plans
Right now, I have no plans, and it feels glorious. After such a rough week I just want to relax and work on cleaning my house - I’ve fallen behind a bit on chores I usually get done throughout the week. I’ve been meaning to clean out and organize my closet for weeks, so I’m hoping I’ll actually get that done this weekend! My husband and I have a Friday night tradition of watching WandaVision and ordering takeout, so that’s all I’ve been looking forward to all week. We’ve also been playing Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla a lot lately, so basically all I want is to lay on the couch and play some more this weekend!
